Brotherhood of St. Roch in Korčula Celebrates 450 Years
The Brotherhood of St. Roch marked its 450th anniversary with the presentation of the monograph “Rokovci 1575 – 2025” and a photo exhibition in the Church “Gospojina”. The book promotion was held in St. Mark’s Cathedral and presented by Prof. Dr. Damir Tulić from the University of Rijeka and Ivan Fabris.
Gastald Andrija Fabris emphasized that the book and the restored altar of St. Roch represent a lasting legacy that the “Rokovci” are proud of and wish to leave to future generations.
The Brotherhood of St. Roch, together with the other Korčula brotherhoods, continues to nurture liturgical and cultural traditions. Recently, the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia proclaimed Korčula Holy week – “Vela setemana” an intangible cultural heritage of national importance, confirming its exceptional value as a centuries-old religious and cultural tradition of Korčula.
