St. Anthony’s Church is located approximately half an hour’s walk from the center of Korčula, towards Lumbarda, in an area renowned not only for its religious significance but also as a protected site of natural beauty.
The church is accessed via a series of 102 steps, flanked by a cypress alley that was planted in 1708, leading visitors to the summit. At the top stands a small yet historically significant church, dating from the 14th century, originally dedicated to St. Anthony the Abbot.
In the late 17th century, during the tenure of Bishop Španić, the church underwent renovations and was rededicated to St. Anthony of Padua. Nearby, on the wall of a small adjacent house, reliefs depicting St. Anthony can be seen. The feast day of St. Anthony, celebrated on June 13th, is marked by local observances.
The hilltop offers a stunning panoramic view of the Korčula archipelago, making it a serene and picturesque spot for reflection and appreciation of the natural and historical landscape.
