St. Michael’s Church is located on Antun and Stjepan Radić Square, directly opposite the Town Hall. Its existence is first documented at the beginning of the 15th century, and it later came under the patronage of the Fraternity of the Virgin of Consolation, which was founded in 1603.
The church underwent significant transformation during the 17th and 18th centuries, acquiring its present Baroque appearance. At the end of the 19th century, a chapel dedicated to the Virgin of Consolation was added, further enhancing its architectural and spiritual significance.
The high altar, crafted in the 18th century, is adorned with a painting by Francesco Maggiotto, depicting the Virgin of Consolation. This artwork, along with the church’s historical and architectural evolution, contributes to its prominence as a cherished religious and cultural landmark in Korčula.
